NGO Management Development Centre provides training for the Development of the Community by enhancing the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes.
In 1992, Sri Lanka Canada Development Fund together with Manitoba Institute of Management (MIM) Canada carried out a survey to identify the Management needs of the NGO community in Sri Lanka. As a result of this survey it was decided to train a core group of trainers to fit into the needs of the NGO community in Sri Lanka. In 1994, a core group of trainers graduated from the training imparted by the trainers of Manitoba Institute of Management Canada organized by Sri Lanka Canada Development Fund with a steering committee representing NGO community and Training Institute. The skills of the Trainers were upgraded from time to time by the MIM on request.
As a result of a series of discussions among trainers that were trained by MIM Programme, decided to form a separate institute to conduct management training for NGO community and then in 1995 NGO Management Development Centre was registered as an NGO under Social Service Act of 1982.
